Types of Packaging Boxes

Here are some of the most common styles of corrugated boxes. If you are looking for something more custom, contact us today and we will find a solution that meets your needs!

Regular Slotted Container (RSC)

The RSC is the most widely used box style due to its efficiency for various applications. It features flaps of equal length, with the two outer flaps (typically the lengthwise flaps) being half the container’s width. When closed, these flaps meet at the center.

Half Slotted Container (HSC)

This style is similar to the RSC but lacks one set of flaps, making it ideal for open-top storage or display.

Overlap Slotted Container (OSC)

In the OSC, all flaps are the same length, and the outer flaps overlap by one inch or more. This design is often sealed with adhesives or staples and is ideal for boxes longer than they are wide, providing additional strength and security.

Full Overlap Slotted Container (FOL)

The FOL has flaps that are the same length as the box’s width, providing near-complete overlap when closed. This style is highly resistant to rough handling and offers extra cushioning and stacking strength, making it suitable for heavy-duty applications.

Center Special Slotted Container (CSSC)

The CSSC features inner and outer flaps cut to different lengths, both meeting at the center. This design offers double the thickness of corrugated board at the top and bottom, providing a strong, level base for products.

1-2-3-Bottom or Auto-Lock Bottom Container (ALB)

The ALB container has die-cut flaps forming the bottom panel. It is easy to set up by folding the panels in sequence and applying pressure to lock them in place. This style is convenient for small-volume shippers but may not be suitable for heavy or concentrated loads. The top can be customized with tuck-top flaps, RSC style, or other configurations.

Telescoping Boxes

Telescoping boxes have separate top and bottom pieces that fit over each other. They come in various unjoined or preglued styles and configurations, offering versatility in packaging.

Folders

Folders consist of one or more pieces of combined board that fold around the product, providing an unbroken surface. The most common type is a one-piece folder with flaps forming the sides and top. A five-panel folder includes a fifth panel as a closing flap for extra coverage.

Wraparound Blank

A wraparound blank is folded tightly around a rigid product by automatic equipment, forming a box that resembles an RSC turned on its side. The joint is created during final closure, ensuring a secure and precise fit.
